Evaluating Landscape Attractiveness with Geospatial Data, A Case Study in Flanders, Belgium

Attractive landscapes are diverse and resilient that provide a multitude of essential ecosystem services. The development landscape policy to protect improve attractiveness, thereby ensuring the provision services, is ideally adapted region specific characteristics. In addition, trends in attractiveness may be linked certain policies, or absence policies over time. A spatial temporal evaluation thus desirable for development. this paper, was spatially evaluated Flanders (Belgium) using indicators derived from geospatial data as case study. Large local differences quality (i) rural versus urban areas (ii) between seven agricultural regions were found. This observed variability demonstrated localized approach, considering geophysical characteristics each individual region, would required Flanders. Some related agriculture Flanders, e.g., slight decrease total area, dominance grassland, maize cereals, crop diversity, sharp increase adoption agri-environmental agreements (AEA) bare soil conditions winter. variation can used tool support analysis, assess potential effects future plans, identify gaps evaluate past policy.
